YES please! By purchasing the SoundPacks you are 100% allowed to use any of the sounds provided into your music wether it’s for free or commercial use.
The license is for commercial and non-commercial use in music and audio production without paying any additional license fees or providing source attribution to SparkPackers.

You cannot create your own sound library or any product that is not a musical composition this includes soundbanks, sample packs, Logic, Cubase, Ableton, FL Studio, Bitwig or Digital Performer projects, templates or stock audio with SparkPackers sounds, samples and WaveTables and resell it.

For now, the two SoundPacks in our roster are made for the soft synth Serum.
So in order to use the presets you must have XFER Serum VST/AU v1.214 or higher installed on your computer.

Copy the Presets folder in the presets folder of Serum:
For PC
Documents/XFER/SerumPresets/Presets
For Mac
/Library/Audio/Presets/Xfer Records/Presets

Put the WaveTables folder here:
For PC
Documents/XFER/SerumPresets/Tables
For Mac
/Library/Audio/Presets/Xfer Records/Tables

If your folder structure is different and you cannot find the correct folders, there is an easy way to locate the installation folders of the Presets and WaveTables:
1) Open Serum.
2) Click “Menu” (Top right)
3) Click “Show Serum Presets Folder”
4) Drag the downloaded folders into their corresponding location.

Yes, of course. In the description bar below the preset’s name, you can find out, what the Modulation Wheel (MW) is doing. The default assignment is /MW = Vibrato. You will also find other assignments like /MW = Filter Down, /MW = HPF, /MW = Detune A, … just to name a few…

No, there are no overlaps between the WTs of each SoundPack. The WaveTables that come with Future Tech >> Pop are totally different from the WaveTables that are stored in the Bass & Freaks WaveTables Folder. And vice-versa.

In most cases, the presets use custom-made WaveTables that have their own unique name and are neatly stored in the WaveTable folder that comes with the SoundPack. You can therefore use them and load them up into the WaveTable section of Serum. The WaveTables (WTs) you are asking about however are not saved in the WaveTables folder.

Sometimes I had to modify an existing custom-made WaveTable, that is already in the SparkPackers WaveTable folder, to make this one preset sound better. I wanted to tweak this WT just a little bit here and there to get the most amazing result. I’m working hard to be not a perfectionist, but sometimes I can’t help myself and have to do this little extra tweak.

The WTs called “Custom [SPARKPACKERS]” are slightly edited clones of existing custom-made WaveTables but I ultimately decided against saving and storing them in the WT folder in order to keep everything neat and clear and to not overcomplicate stuff. You can always save these kind of WaveTables and give them their unique name, of course.

In some handful cases the used WaveTable remains nameless. There is no name at all, the field above the WT is left blank. That’s because Serum did not write/export the WT correctly at times. You have to go through this Export-Import process in order to give a WaveTable a unique name. During the export process Serum did some normalizing or other stuff I didn’t want in these exceptional cases. So in order to leave the WT uncompromized, I refrained from giving the WT its own name and decided to leave it blank.

I sampled noise oscillators from analog synths and recorded live instruments like bass, guitars and percussions. From the latter I only kept the first inital milliseconds in order to get that short klicky and snappy attack sound.

These noise and attack samples are only embedded in the presets that use these noise sounds. There is no extra folder that contains all the custom-made noise samples. If you would like to get your hands on more of these noise samples, let me know and I will attach them to upcoming SoundPacks as well.

In order to give you the sound you always wanted from a hardware synth but never hoped to achieve with a soft synth, I push Serum to its limits. I minimized these glitches by rendering the WTs internally. But if you still encounter those glitches you can:

  • Lower the Unison of the OSC.
  • Give Serum more space to breeze by disabling FX units like Reverb, Delay ect…
  • Go to GLOBAL > Oscillator Setting > and choose Quality 1 X (Draft). Turn it back up to 2 X or even 4 X when bouncing the relevant Serum track for best qualitiy.
